Warm autumn greetings from us at Bukkenburg Pottery Studio in
Winter School kicks off next month with a wide range of 3-day
and 5-day courses in various activities and disciplines on offer during the
coming winter months.
We are happy to be part of this new initiative and send you this newsletter
which has information and some links about the pottery courses that we will be
facilitating at the studio this winter.
Our plan is to hold three courses here during the winter months - June, July
An immersive and
enriching experience in a well-equipped working pottery set in a gorgeous

informal and fun introduction; tailored for beginners, novices, and even those
with some experience - run on the basis of a demonstration/participation

One 5-day course
12 to 16 August
Playing with Fire - a 5-day workshop exploring aspects of glazing, decoration
and reduction firing in an oil-fired kiln.
This will suit those with some experience and who would like to experience some
of the process of high temperature reduction firing.
Participants are invited to bring with them a selection of their own
bisque-fired stoneware and/or porcelain for inclusion in the process.

Our recently renovated and refurbished guest cottage is available on a

The weather in Swellendam during winter is generally mild with glorious
light; and in the event of a 'cold snap', we have an excellent gas heater to
keep the studio warm.
